Ryan taught me some computer games as a pre-surgery distraction.
And some Wii games.
Bows. Again. Poor Batman.
Away he goes. As soon as he is out of sight, I lose it a little bit. Take deep breaths, remember everyone's encouraging words. He'll be fine. He'll be fine.
Recovery (about an hour and a half after we last saw him). I have to say looking at these pictures makes me really emotional. I think you can see Rene's concern in his posture.
Ryan was snoring faintly at this point...
I was happy for the comic relief Rene was happy to provide. Yes, two thumbs up, you did it Ryan!
Rolling to the Post-Op area, where we wait for him to wake up.
We were sitting and waiting for a long time before someone suggested we try waking him - that he wouldn't wake on his own. NOW you tell us? And once Rene knew he had to drink to leave, he was ON IT.
Breaks. My. Heart.
I was very nervous letting him old that iPad... And rightfully so, he kept lowering and lowering it, his eyes closing ever so slightly as it lowered.
Back to his silly self. Happily eating - and playing with - his Jell-o.
I only encouraged this so he'd eat more.
